Following hair transplant surgery, you’ll need plenty of rest, contrary to what many people think following the easy procedure. The fact that it was their scalp having the procedure, and not any major muscle or bone causes many people to think the surgery was not a major one. The truth is that you have many small wounds and you need to protect them.
At a time span of one to two years, the time required to undergo hair transplant surgery is not a small one. These are known as mega-sessions and can require the installation of thousands of grafts in one sitting. However, the length of these sessions is often grueling and requires commitment.
Along with hair transplant surgery, you may have to have other treatments so if you do not have enough hair, you cannot undergo the normal treatment. Also, there are other procedures that can be done to help stimulate hair growth along with the main treatment. Patients should beware that these types of procedures generally cause more discomfort.
What you may not realize – and your doctor may not tell you – is that your grafts may not survive after hair transplant surgery. Ideally, you can hope that only a small number of grafts will be lost. Still, many grafts will not be viable no matter how much effort is put into the procedure.

Taking into consideration an average lifespan of a person dying at 70, if they have the procedure done at 30, then they have paid 300 dollars for each of the 40 years they had the surgery, which averages out to 25 dollars per month. Many “low cost” treatments for hair loss cost much more money than per month. As you can see, it would actually be much more affordable to have the surgery done.
